APH EBBHS: Male-Only Social Support Can Decrease Depressive Symptoms in Men

This presentation is designed to inform professionals of how men may be impacted differently when struggling with depression and how influential social norms can cause men to not seek treatment.
 

Target Audience

The program is aimed at psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses and other allied health professionals who deal with mental health issues and addiction medicine.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the subtle differences between “Masculine Depression” and “Feminine Depression”
  2. Verbalize how men with depression can be masked by anger and aggressive behavior
  3. Describe how male-only social support can guide men towards emotional awareness and trust
