The Vascular Specialists at Aurora BayCare present: Current Approaches to Peripheral Artery Disease and Carotid Artery Disease

An educational event where primary care, internal medicine, occupational medicine, women's health and wound-care providers can learn about the current vascular approaches to peripheral artery disease (PAD) and carotid artery disease (CAD). This activity will present updated guidelines for screening and treatment options for PAD and CAD, in an effort to provide interventions in a more timely and convenient manner.

Target Audience

Emergency medicine, family practice, general practice, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, preventive medicine.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Identify patients with peripheral artery disease and/or carotid artery disease.
  2. Recognize their role in the non-operative management of peripheral artery disease and carotid artery disease.
  3. Differentiate between patients that should be referred out to a provider who specializes in peripheral artery disease vs patients who can be treated without specialist referral.
  4. Differentiate between patients that should be referred out to a provider who specializes in carotid artery disease vs patients who can be treated without specialist referral.
  5. Express awareness of vascular providers that treat peripheral artery disease and carotid artery disease.
