Current Concepts in Sports Medicine Symposium: The Team Athlete

This program is designed to increase knowledge and improve clinical competency of team sports athletes. This course will include comprehensive management of 4 sports: Hockey, Baseball, Soccer, and Basketball with consideration to injury, evaluation, and rehabiltation.
Target Audience
Physicians specifically orthopedic and family practice and mid-level providers (physician assistants and nurse practitioners), licensed athletic trainers, physical therapists, and strength and conditioning specialists
Learning Objectives
- Attendees will be able to identify injury patterns that are most commonly seen within athletic competition specific to basketball, baseball/softball, soccer, and hockey athletes.
- Attendees will appreciate the need for individualized care plans with the consideration of sport specific movements when designing a rehab program.
- Participants will be able to recognize and treat athletic movement faults that predispose overhead athletes to injury and implement strategies to prevent re-injury.
- Lecturers will summarize the latest evidence-based recommendations for the diagnosis, surgical management, and rehabilitation of knee injuries in soccer athletes.
- Participants will enhance their knowledge of clinical interventions for athletes who are nearing a return to play phase, including advanced proprioception tasks, return to play guidelines, and performance enhancement techniques.
