Clinical Issues in Marriage and Family Therapy Series: Annual Solution Focused Brief Therapy Conference - Solution Focused Play Therapy: Improving Clinical Outcomes for Children and Families

June 14, 2024

Solution-focused play therapy (SFPT) is a strengths-based approach to play therapy that helps children work through challenges by building on internal assets and external resources. Using a postmodern perspective, SFPT sees child clients and their caregivers as experts in their lives. SFPT is an affirmative approach that has been applied across different client populations and cultures. This interactive online workshop will focus on SFPT with young children, older children, and families. The presenter will provide an overview of the history and key concepts of SFPT and share how to set small, measurable goals with child clients and their caregivers. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice SFPT basic skills and view a video demonstration of these skills in action. Throughout the presentation, participants will engage in various SFPT therapeutic activities that they can use with clients in their practice. This interactive workshop will explore ways of being with kids that are playful, systemic, and affirmative in both nondirective and directive ways.

This conference is being held virtually.
